Flu vaccination 2022/2023
Flu vaccination is extra important again this year.
This is because flu poses a particular risk to many of the same people who also risk a complicated and serious course of illness if they get covid-19.
The incidence of influenza varies from year to year and the viral infection occurs most frequently in the period from December to March.
The vaccine Vaxigriptetra is an inactivated flu vaccine that provides protection after 2-3 weeks against the specific flu strains that are in the vaccine.
Immunity usually lasts for 6-12 months.
Most side effects after vaccination with the flu vaccine are mild. The most frequent side effects are local reaction with tenderness at the injection site, headache and malaise.
The side effects usually disappear within 1-2 days without treatment. Serious side effects are extremely rare.
The Danish Health Authority recommends that pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimester be vaccinated against influenza.
